Rummaging through my journals and notebooks, I came across these three poems…written at various points throughout my twenties. I’ve never considered poetry to be a strong suit of mine, but sometimes I believe a poem is the only way through a thought, a feeling, or an experience. We see this wrestling with reality and astonishment at God’s character in David’s poems, in Mary’s song, and throughout the prophets as they endeavored to make sense of the sheer glory of God, of the strangeness in His plans, and in the tensions and mysteries one encounters as a child beloved by the Creator of the universe.
